Week 8 in review: Yeah, that happened

What a weekend!

Christmas came early for the Gators this weekend. Despite only gaining 29 yards and 2 first downs in the first half Florida led 21-6 thanks to the gift wrapped turnovers from the Gamecocks. Driskel looked really good throwing for 4 touchdowns and no interceptions while neither of the QBs SC played went over 50% or threw for a single TD. In summary:

I think the Visor's visor spent more time on the ground than on his head in this game.

Florida is really starting to look like a contender.

Kansas State drilled the Mountaineers today. Collin Klein (17/19 321 yards 3 TD passing FOUR on the ground that's SEVEN TDs!) took control of the Heisman race while Geno Smith (20/31 140 yards 2 INT) did everything he could to destroy it. I mean this one was pretty much over by the half and with a whole quarter left to play the stadium looked like this.

Thanks this guy's twitter!
USC won and easily covered the spread. Do you really need to say anything else about that game? I guess maybe some Buffalo players will get to hook up with some hot SoCal babes post game... Yeah, probably not. Sorry about your eyes, btw.

Oh and then there was a game in Columbus today. Let's get this out of the way: Ohio State's being 8-0 right now has nothing to do with OSU being at all good, or decent. It's a total testament to the Big 10 being dog shit this year. I've never seen an OSU team so God awful at tackling. Perhaps those Boilermakers got greased up real good before the game or perhaps Ohio State, on defensive fundamentals are terrible? We may never know. But I do know that all game I saw Buckeyes making contact with Purdues and then said Purdues getting an extra 4-5 yards after contact. That shouldn't be, that should be at all.

In the third quarter, however the collective cholesterol-filled heart of Buckeye Nation stopped when do-everything Buckeye QB Braxton Miller took a hit and stayed down for some time.

Watching, the replay it didn't really look like it was that bad of a hit, like he didn't fall on his head or anything. It looked like the Purdue player took him down hard with Miller landing on his left shoulder. Anyway, Miller was on the ground for some time and when he finally sat up you could tell he was in a lot of pain. Eventually he was loaded into an ambulance and taken a mile down the road to the OSU Med Center. (He has since been released.)
Your 2012 Purdue MVP!
With Miller out and Ohio State down 22-14 with 47 seconds to go Kenny Guiton led the Buckeyes down the field, making a TD then making the 2pt conversion. In OT, Ohio State got the ball first made the TD and in the next series when Purdue went 4 and out Buckeye history was made (or whatever other dumb cliched expression you want to use.)

Guiton has his pick over the finest babes Ohio has to offer.
Next up the Buckeyes travel to Beaver Stadium to play Penn State and we will all abstain from making jokes about it, right?
