Tigers Offseason Part One

The 2012 Tigers repeated what they did in 2006: enter the World Series as the overwhelming favorite and still lose the World Series. Instead of thinking that Jim Leyland is the problem, the Tigers have decided to spend even more money to win the World Series in 2013. If spending exorbitant amounts of money led to a World Series, the Miami Marlins would have won the title this year, not the San Francisco Giants. The Tigers have already made some offseason moves and there are still plenty of rumors out there about what they could do.

First, they didn't resign Delmon Young and Jose Valverde. With Victor Martinez returning in 2013, there was no room for Young on the team as a DH. His defense is terrible, so he was not an option to bring back. He has had two great postseasons with the Tigers, but his regular season numbers have been declining sharply despite not even being 30 years old yet.

Releasing Valverde was an even easier decision. Over the years, he has lost his splitter, so he only throws a fastball now. His command has gotten worse. That is without mentioning him personally blowing two games in the postseason. With the amount of money he was making and his salary demands, it was easy to let this dud go.

The Tigers finally got rid of two utility men: Don Kelly and Ryan Raburn. Jim Leyland loves playing scrubs more often than he should because he was a minor league scrub during his baseball days. So scrubs get way more chances than they deserve under Leyland. Jim Leyland also had a homosexual love affair with Ryan Raburn. There is no other explanation as to why Raburn played so much despite quite possibly being the worst player in Major League Baseball. Maybe he gave Leyland the blowjobs of his life, I don't know. That would be the only justification for Leyland playing Raburn as much as he did. If you had ever seen Raburn play, he is a blackhole on defense. I don't care what his WAR is on defense, his actual use on defense is negative infinity. The retard cannot make simple plays. He takes the wrong routes to the ball when playing left field, and that's the easiest outfield position to play. When he plays second base, it's like watching that fat kid in little league baseball trying to play a position he can't play. A team would be better off putting an open mailbox out in the field than to have this sorry son of a bitch play. Onto his offense, he's super streaky. He'll bat around .150 for the first half of the year and all of a sudden bat .330 in the second half. His retarded fans thinks it's justifiable to put him in the lineup because of how well he played in the second half for two years. However, you can tell that his fans have never actually watched a game that he has played. He strikes out more often than a fat kid trying to pick up hot chicks. He cannot advance the baserunner (as in if there's a runner on first or second base, he cannot move them to the next base with a groundball.) He'll either strike out or pop up. His inflated numbers comes off of feasting on inferior pitching and he never hits in games where a quality pitcher is on the mound. Suffice to say, I was extremely happy that the Tigers got rid of his sorry ass.

As a Tigers fan, I got too used to seeing shit like that. Piece of shit can't even catch a ball.

In my next column, I'll go over the rumors and give my opinion on what the Tigers should do.

  1. I thought it was funny when leading up the WS everyone would ask Leyland if Valverde would play and he'd always say something like, "Well, we'll see how he plays in practice" or some other vague statement like that when you could tell he really wanted to say OF COURSE FUCKING NOT!

As for Raburn's spiking numbers I hear PEDs are a hell of a thing!

    1. He did horrible in the one practice he pitched in. He got beat up by guys from A-level ball clubs in the Tigers farm system.

(In case you didn't know, in the farm system, there are three levels: A, AA, AAA. A is the lowest level.)

Yeah, I think it was obvious that Valverde wasn't going to pitch lol.
