CFB weekend preview #11

#11 Oregon State at #14 Stanford

This one will probably not be a pretty game of football. Stanford is favored by 4 1/2 in this one. I think Stanford will cover and then some. Stanford is at home and is 21 in total defense while Oregon State doesn't really do anything particularly well on offense ranking 105 in rushing and 40th in passing. Stanford wins 21-10.

#15 Texas A&M at #1 Alabama

Alabama is currently favored by 13 1/2 in this one. Now, this is another one of those games that just feels weird to me. I'm not sure if I'm willing to take A&M outright but I certainly think they can cover. Alabama is coming off a really emotional win over LSU and is also probably pretty banged up. A&M is also able to put up a lot of points, ranking 10th and 18th in rushing and passing stats respectively. If AJ McCarron comes out like he did in the beginning of the LSU game and plays like that, watch out!

#2 Kansas St. at TCU

Kansas St. is favored by a touchdown in thins one. I didn't really get why the line was so small... Is TCU really that difficult to play in? The reason is because TCU is 8th in rushing defense and that's what Kansas St. likes to do. Collin Klein is really a better runner than passer, KSU ranks 82nd in passing offense., while they rank 18th in rushing. So, contrary to what I initially thought this one could actually be a close game. As of now Klein is expected to play in this game but if he isn't 100% there's a real chance they could lose, and I would be crushed except that then Braxton Miller would have a real chance at the Heisman. I'm leaning towards KSU covering and just leaving it at that.

Filling in for my usual Ohio State pick since they're on a bye...

#21 Mississippi State at #7 LSU

The only way LSU loses this game is if they are completely defeated after the way they lost to Alabama last week. Judging from past experiences though when LSU lost a huge game like that I don't really think there's too much of a let down factor here. We all know what Death Valley is like to play in so I really have zero faith that MSU will be able to do much of anything. LSU is favored by 15 and I fully expect them to cover that and then some. Maybe Zach Mettenberger was able to bottle some of that juice from the Alabama game where he actually looked like a decent quarterback for most of it and bring it into this game. Either way this should be a blow out.
