The San Antonio Spurs have hired the first ever full-time female assistant coach. Becky Hammon who has 16 years of experience in the WNBA has been associated with the Spurs and the WNBA team the San Antonio Stars for some time.
I think it'll be interesting to see how this plays out in the locker room. A lot of people are saying that because she has earned her way to this spot that she already has the players' respect. The Spurs and Popovich specifically are extremely progressive so this is not the least bit surprising that they are the first team to take this step.
